According to The Telegraph, quoting Western intelligence sources, Russia uses online recruiting people and local criminal groups to sabotage the European armory. The aim is to support Ukraine, and the stake for Poland is to defend factories, railways and supply chains from hybrid war.

Sabotage below the war threshold

According to Western intelligence sources cited by The Telegraph, Russia is leading a fresh wave of sabotage activities against the European arms industry. As reported Polish Radio Behind British Journal, the action model is based on intermediaries: local criminal groups, communicators and payments in cryptocurrency. It's inexpensive sabotage, hard to delegate and calculated to test NATO's patience.

The mechanics is readable. Moscow doesn't gotta send an officer with a diplomatic passport. All you request is simply a telegram, a middleman, digital cash, and a man willing to set fire to a warehouse or harm an infrastructure element. For the Kremlin, specified a contractor is disposable. However, it is becoming a real counter-intelligence problem for European countries.

Telegram, cryptocurrency and dirty work

According to accounts based on the British Journal, Russian military services do not always straight contact performers. Tasks go through intermediaries, and people on the scene may not really know who the eventual employer is. Here lies the strength of this method: it blurs responsibility, delays consequence and allows Moscow to deny.

NATO has already warned against a Russian hybrid run besides led by attorneys. In the Washington summit declaration, the Alliance wrote about sabotage, violence, provocations at borders and proxies. These formulas describe the war waged below the tank threshold, but aimed at very circumstantial targets: factories, airports, railways, warehouses and morale of societies.

Plants for Ukraine targeted

‘The Telegraph’ lists a series of incidents at facilities related to the production or supply of arms to Ukraine. Among another things, it is the fire of a building owned by the Estonian company Milrem Robotics in Tallinn, an detonation at the Bulgarian EMKO plant on 10 August, and an detonation at KNDS Ammo Italy in Colleferro, Rome 3 days later. In any cases, investigators are only investigating the background, and the authorities of any Western countries are more careful in linking incidents with Russia.

This caution can be procedurally understood. Politically, however, has a cost. Each attack without a clear answer teaches the Kremlin how far the border can move. This is how Russian realism works: it does not test the declaration, but the consequence to the facts. If the warehouse burns, the production will stop, and the allies will limit themselves to the message, Moscow receives operational information.

For Poland, its own industrial base is of peculiar importance. Defence24 points out that part of Polish defence companies lies in east Poland, up to 200 km from the border with Belarus and Ukraine. This is not about abstraction from a staff map, but about establishments, employees, contracts, transports and production, on which the state's resilience depends.

Poland is not a spectator

The Polish right hand should look at this case without illusion. Russia does not wage war solely in Ukraine. He runs pressures against the full West, and Poland is 1 of the most crucial corridors of aid, production and logistics. DN has already written that The missiles to the Patriots from Poland are a real offer for Washington. The greater the function of the Polish industry, the greater Moscow's temptation to intimidate or paralyze him.

German investigations show the scale of the threat. "The Guardian" described the case of an arms locker under Berlin, suspicion of preparing a serious act of violence, and earlier threads of incendiary packages and plans aimed at defence-related people. Russia denies being active in sabotage, but NATO states have no comfort in waiting for a Russian confession.

Answer: Counterintelligence and State resilience

The safety of factories, railways, airports, ports, warehouses and energy networks is at stake for Poles. It is besides the safety of workers who are not characters from a geopolitical board, but people who enter establishments all day. The state must defend them as seriously as it protects the border.

Hard procedures are needed: access control, industrial counterintelligence, recruitment investigating monitoring, cooperation with private companies, railway protection and fast exchange of information with allies. On the east flank, it's not adequate to believe in NATO's umbrella. DN late described that The 3 AWACS on the Baltic were a signal at Köniwiec. Signals are important, but Russia only understands the cost.

Poland's right state so requires a simple principle: the defence manufacture is part of national security, not just the manufacture of the economy. Whoever hits an ammunition factory, a drone warehouse, or military transport strikes the ability of European states to defend against an aggressor. The answer must be quick, shared and acute. Otherwise, the Kremlin will proceed to check how much it can do with another people's hands.
