Presidential elections in Romania and unexpected congratulations

On Sunday, not only did Poles elect the president. Romanians besides voted. In the repeated presidential election, Mayor of Bucharest Nicosor Dan was victorious.

Rated as a pro-European politician, he won the second circular with a score of 53.67 percent. 46.33 percent of voters voted for his counter-candidate, the right-wing George Simion.

Although Simion initially refused to admit the election results, he yet congratulated the winner. “This was the will of the Romanian people”, he stated on Facebook. The politician besides stressed that the fight for justice, truth, family, religion and freedom must continue.
