Gierty explained that he formally joined the PO on Wednesday, during a gathering of the club KO. He thanked "colleagues and colleagues" for "nice party" and applause.

Much earlier, Gierty was a associate and president of the Polish household League. From 2006 to 2007, as leader of the Polish household League, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education in the Government with PiS and Self-defense. He left this group respective years ago. Even before that, he was head of the All-Polish Youth, but formally this organization is not a party.

In the last parliamentary election of 2023, Gierty competed for the Sejm from the list of Civic Coalition in the Kielce District. Recently, he was made to the seat of the minister of justice in place of Adam Bodnar.
