Do you request a card erstwhile checking tickets? There was a proposal to change the usage of student relief
The issue of changing the rules on the usage of student relief in public collective transport measures was raised in early July 2025 in an interpelling addressed to the Minister of Infrastructure. Its author noted that in Poland there is simply a general school work until the age of 18. This means that all kid under that age is attending school, that is, fulfilling the conditions for the student relief. The dependence on age relief seems so justified.
Changing the law in specified a way that a relief for people under the age of 18 will be granted on the basis of an identity paper confirming age - as in many another countries - would destruct the request to remember about the yearly renewal of their credentials, relieve schools and students and reduce the hazard of unpleasant public transport situations
- read in the interview. Now Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Przemysław Koperski addressed this issue.

Ticket control on the bus is expected to be easier. The government is besides considering another changes in public transport
In his reply, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Przemysław Koperski acknowledged that work was underway on changes in the strategy of rights to statutory travel allowances in a broader sense, but the issue of linking relief for students with the age criterion was besides raised among them.
The infrastructure department has developed a concept of simplifying and harmonising this system. Among the main assumptions of the proposed amendments are, among others, the re-establishment in a single legal act of the rules governing passengers' entitlement to statutory reductions and the simplification of the way in which the right to relief is certified during the acquisition or control of the toll ticket. 1 of the concepts under consideration in this area is to introduce a relief for children and young people based on the age criterion, which will let students to quit the request for an crucial school card
- explains Koperski, as quoted by the Local Government Portal. After the changes have been made, children and young people could show any paper confirming identity and age during ticket checks. At the same time, the Deputy Minister points out that the ministry will first deal with simplifying and harmonising the strategy of rail traffic relief. There are presently 7 of them, at levels between 33 and 95 percent. For comparison, there is simply a single level of statutory relief of 50% in public transport. It is so hard to tell erstwhile changes for students in public transport can take effect.
