The Polish Navy is entering a fresh phase of modernization. The construction of a specialist rescue unit “Savener” means an investment worth over PLN 1 billion, which will supply support for submarines and submarines. This is simply a key component in strengthening the maritime safety of the country.
The contract for the construction of Ratownika was signed on 27 December in Gdynia. According to the assumptions, this is to be a multi-tasking vessel with a dimension of 95 metres and a displacement of up to 6 1000 tons. He can accommodate up to 110 people.

The programme will proceed until 2029. The start of the construction, including the cutting of sheets and the location of the keel, is planned for the next 12-14 months. The "Rescuer" is intended to replace the age-old ORP "Lech" and ORP "Piast" which have served since 1974.
Tasks and capabilities of the ship Rescue
The fresh unit will support the activities of the Polish fleet in:
- rescue of crews from submarines and submarines;
- monitoring critical infrastructure underwater;
- supporting underwater work, firefighting activities and the protection of energy projects.
The ship will besides become part of the 3rd Fleet Ship Support Squadron, stationed at Gdynia War Port. The investment in the Navy, as announced, will not end with the “Saveman”. The head of MON announced the improvement of further projects, including the construction of submarines under the Orka programme.

The war in Ukraine showed the importance of securing maritime transport routes. "Since the outbreak of the war 80 to 90 percent of fuels have arrived in Poland by sea," said Jacek Siewara, head of the National safety Bureau. This justifies further investments in the improvement of the Polish Navy.
