Maciej Wilk, the initiator of the Capital Referendal Operation, reported on social media that 40,000 signatures had already been collected in just over 2 weeks. The action began on July 30, during the vacation holidays. In the first 4 days, the organizers collected 15,000 signatures, and in each of the next 2 weeks, they arrived at around 12.5 thousand.

The gathering will last until September 28th. In order for a referendum on the cancellation of the Warsaw authorities to be held, about 132 1000 signatures are needed, i.e. support for at least 10% of the citizens of the capital who are entitled to vote. The final threshold will be set by the electoral commissioner.

As Wilk said:

We took off in the mediate of a vacation holiday summit. Now we're putting in another run. In the coming weeks you will see even more of our volunteers on the streets of Warsaw in distinctive orange vests and even more posts marked with props with the inscription “Referendum”.

‘Political loot of 1 group’

The representatives of the Capital Referendal Operations convince that the reason for the effort to dismiss Rafał Trzaskowski is their opposition to the alleged economical inefficiencies, inadequate supervision and disregard of the problems of the inhabitants. Action initiators besides criticize the way the city is managed, indicating cases of dudes and increasing irregularities. As 1 example, they mention the situation at the confederate Hospital.

The organizers say that Warsaw should be managed in a more transparent way and with a greater share of residents who, in their opinion, should have a real impact on decisions concerning the capital.

Earlier Test

W Warsaw had already held a referendum on the cancellation of the city president. The vote took place in October 2013 and afraid Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. Initiators of the referendum criticized her for her problems with the operation of public transport, increased ticket prices, confusion about the collection of waste and delays with crucial investments, including the construction of metro and the North Bridge.

The vote did not bring a decision due to the fact that the required attendance was not achieved. 25.66 percent of the eligible members participated in the referendum, while at least 30% of the voters were required to participate at the time.
