U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham, the authors of an anti-Russian sanctions project, hope to be passed even before the G7 summit in Canada. The event is scheduled for 15-17 June.
The restrictions are to be coordinated with European allies. The draft sanctions support 82 U.S. Senators. It foresees, among another things, the introduction of 500 % customs duties on imports from countries that buy energy natural materials from Russia. The restrictions on the Russian financial sector are besides included.
According to any reports, U.S. president Donald Trump will decide on this issue on the basis of the results of the next circular of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations in Istanbul on June 2, unless Moscow decides to make concessions on the way to peace.
