The another 1 who learned to fight

I was lying in a infirmary at 27 weeks of pregnancy erstwhile a caregiver didn't hear 1 of the twins erstwhile she examined KTG. The medical staff immediately showed up. They asked: Will you sacrifice 1 kid to make the another born on time? Or do you subtract this chance from the larger of the twins and save both?

The first 2 ultrasounds were performed by a single pregnancy – Mrs.Małgosia, Zosia and Tosi's mother, and four-year-old twins Tadzia and Radek laugh. Only at prenatal examinations in the 15th week of pregnancy did we hear: Do you know that there will be twins?

I can't hear 1 of the twins.

That's erstwhile I found out the twins had 1 placenta. This is unfavorable due to the fact that the nutritional values are unevenly distributed. That makes 1 duplicate bigger and the another smaller. The tests started all minute, and by the 25th week, they put me in the hospital.

Two weeks later, in a KTG test, the caregiver didn't hear 1 of the twins. The medical staff immediately showed up. They asked: Will you sacrifice 1 kid to make another born on time? Or do you subtract this chance from the larger of the twins and save both?

And so the fight began.

Two minutes to make it.

They put me to sleep fast. There was small time – they had 2 minutes to get both boys out. Those were utmost preemies. extremist condition was very dense and Tadzia was critical. He weighed 500 grams. With that weight, 1 kid in 10 survives. Or less.

I don't remember much about that time. I remember, however, that I cannot quit due to the fact that I gotta fight not only for the twins but besides for the daughters. At the time, I heard counsel not to look ahead, not to think about the consequences of specified utmost preeminence, but to be happy that they are alive today.

Tadzio weighed only 500 grams at birth.

Like a thread to thread

In the seventh day of his life, Tadzio received sepsis that devastated his body: there was a lung detonation – 9 weeks he was under a ventilator, the intestines were glued together – the doctor said that their teasing was as if he wanted to stick a thread.

He spent 8 months in the hospital, only going to another infirmary for eye surgery. Unfortunately, he did not learn to eat, he was incapable to coordinate breathing and eating. To this day, it is nourished by PEG, by a syringe, right into the stomach.

Tadzio in the hospital, Radek besides – 3 months, and at home small girls. I have shared time among all, but the consequences of this period in the behaviour of girls I see to this day.

The prognosis council was good, there were no major complications – he rapidly got out of oxygen and erstwhile he grew old enough, he returned home. erstwhile Radio left, I was pulling out food, leaving it in my mom's basket, and I was going to Tadzia.

Resident

As for Tadzia, any doctors told us to focus on the worst. And 1 prof. said Tadzio was strong, as you can see in the studies, but you besides gotta consider that in his tummy he was the another – the 1 who fought all the time. Tadio besides takes his strength from this phase of life.

The infirmary called him a resident. erstwhile he left, everyone was happy. usually children after specified a long stay – if they left the hospital, it was only for the hospice.

It was besides late after the pandemic.

For the remainder of his life he will endure from the immaturity of the full body, all organs. Everything was sick: pancreas, lungs, heart; he had a hernia, besides advanced sugar, tragic saturation. Unfortunately, he lost his sight in 1 eye. He had pneumonia, which led to a deadline with a specialist, then came Covid and all the offices closed. erstwhile we yet got to the doctor, it was besides late.

There are times erstwhile things are better, but then it goes back. He started eating, but he stopped. He started talking. Mom and DadBut he stopped. He loses his memory and his skills.

Six operations

Both boys had severe bronchial-pulmonary dysplasia, so they were very frequently ill. In the morning they sneezed – and in the evening it is ambulance and oxygen. Now we're seeing quite a few improvement due to the fact that they've had tonsils and ear drains. It was the sixth operation for Tadzia.

Rehabilitation works miracles – and these miracles must be believed. Tazio goes to a peculiar kindergarten where he makes large progress. We go to rehab six times a week. It goes to a psychologist, to sensory integration, to neurologopeda and osteopatha. In kindergarten, he has advanced, sound therapy and light therapy. Radio has sensory integration, neurologopeda and intellectual care.

Very large Change

Most studies, treatments and specialists are paid privately. Like wellness tours, which for 2 people can cost respective 1000 zlotys. After the current legal changes, it will be better.

From 1 January we will receive a double nursing service – both on Tadzia and on Radek. There's only been 1 thing so far. It'll be a large change for us. Very big.

Family passion is to discover waterfalls. “One day we walked 12 kilometres across the mountains,” Dad says proudly.

The husband works a lot, he is frequently on the road – you know: to earn. Our parent helps us a lot, but until late I slept for a maximum of 4 hours a day. Late at night, we inactive had to inhale the boys, frequently choking. It's better after the last surgery. I go to sleep after midnight, not after 2:00.

‘Common’ day

I start after six, with feeding Tadzia. Then I cook peculiar food for Radek, make girls for school. erstwhile my husband is here, I take Tadzia to kindergarten and wait for him there until 1:00. It's quite a few distances, quite a few travel costs, and there's no point coming back. It's worse erstwhile I'm alone and then Radka needs to be taken to rehab. Then I take Tadzia and we wait outside the building until Radek's done.

The girls, unfortunately, have different hours to school – 1 by morning, the another south. They're coming back on the school bus. The driver knows our situation, so he drives them outside the home and waits for them to come inside.

When everyone's home, there's quite a few activities around the kids. all day, we work to make it easy for healthy children to cope with those who are sick erstwhile we are gone.

We besides believe that medicine is moving forward and will find fresh possibilities for, for example, Tadzia's eye.

Something for yourself?

Honestly? We're glad it's what it is. It might not have been Tadzia at all, or it would have been a kid all her life.

We're trying to organize things so that everyone has something for themselves. Husband – mastering, girls – painting, gymnastics and works. What about me? I'd like to support another sick children. I want I could finish my sensory integration course. That's what keeps me going. That's what I want to do for myself. If individual helped my Tadzi, I want to aid too.

What are the costs of caring for sick children?

  • Orthopedic gryzak – about 58 PLN;
  • Time of physiotherapy – about 100 PLN;
  • Costs of monthly travel to therapy – about 1000 PLN.
