Three Apartments
In mid-July, the Council of Ministers accepted the draft amendments concerning short-term rental rules. Initially, it was assumed that local governments would be given the chance to establish areas where specified housing would be prohibited. Eventually, this recording was removed from the project. The Minister of Funds Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz opposed the deletion of this regulation, while the Ministry of athletics and Tourism argued that specified restrictions were not necessary.
Meanwhile, Money.pl, which is part of Virtual Poland, reported that Ireneusz Raś, Deputy Minister of athletics and Tourism liable for the work on the project, was to have 3 tiny premises for rent in Łódź. In December 2023, before taking office in the government, he sold 2 of them to his brother. After the divorce, the 3rd flat fell to his ex-wife. According to WP, he earned PLN 134 1000 on this transaction. 3 months later, he became vice minister in Donald Tusk's government.
The portal besides established that the building is not listed in the city registry of hotel facilities. Raś denies the relation with the company managing the premises, but admits that he has collaborated with Rentowni.pl. The politician claims that the premises were intended for long-term rental while the WP indicates that the company besides deals with short-term rental.
Deputy Minister sees no conflict of interest
When asked about this situation, the politician stated that he did not see any conflict of interest in it. He besides admitted that he had not previously informed Prime Minister Donald Tusk of the proceeds obtained from these properties.
Ireneusz Raś was asked by Marcin Fijołek in the program “Graffiti” about whether he plans to resign. The resignation of the Deputy Minister demands, among another things, any opposition politicians. But the politician does not see the need.
But why should I resign? This is called lying truth. So far, it's been done by politicians, and now journalists have started to usage it.
Ireneusz Raś stressed in the Polsat programme that the sale of 3 microcavaliers had taken place before his election to the Sejm and taking his position in the sports ministry, and at the time of the transaction he did not yet know how his further political career would turn out. He assured that he did not see any conflict of interest in this situation, noting that he besides did not foresee that he would be liable for the provisions on short-term rental in the future.
When asked about the sale of property a period before the election, he explained that he needed money to build a household home, and he did not think he was a peculiarly wealthy person. Raś besides confirmed that he entered into a five-year contract with the company managing the lease of his property. However, he denied that this cooperation would affect his later decisions relating to legislative work.
