

According to CNN, the operation is part of the national activities involving the Office for Immigration and Enforcement of Customs (ICE), U.S. Marshals Service and another services. They are tasked with detaining immigrants considered to be a threat to public and national security.
The fresh Washington administration seeks to strengthen the ICE, which has limited resources and to increase the number of arrests under president Trump's deportation plan. ICE's field offices have been instructed to meet the regular limit of 75 arrests, which could lead to a crucial increase in the number of detentions throughout the US. Last year, the agency made an average of about 310 detentions a day.
Trump tightened the rules
"Repressions include executive orders that limit legal immigration paths, extend immigration enforcement powers and search to destruct the US citizenship provision granted for birth in the US. This has exacerbated tensions with Latin American countries," CNN emphasises.
According to the Chicago Tribune, ICE's spokesman, Jeff Carter, has issued a message stating that his agency and another services have begun "enhanced operations in Chicago, targeting US immigration enforcement and maintaining public and national safety by eliminating threats from criminals". The ICE refused to disclose details of the number of detainees in Chicago or the charges they were charged with.
P.o. Secretary of interior safety Benjamine Huffman granted law enforcement additional powers to law enforcement agencies.
