Why is this important?
During the Friday press conference, Trzaskowski was asked about the comments of the ruling camp politicians on the postulate put forward last week that benefits specified as 800 plus should be paid to Ukrainians on condition that they live, work and pay taxes in Poland. The Minister of household Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk assessed that "800 plus is simply a provision for children and children should serve", while the talker of the Sejm Simon Hołownia stated that he would not make any run hostage to "poor Ukrainian mothers whose children go to school, but they cannot work".
What did Rafał Trzaskowski say?
— I think that there is nothing controversial about this, that we have support for those of our guests who work hard and live in Poland – the president of Warsaw said on Friday. — For 3 years, we had tremendously generous support for the Ukrainians — and rightly so. I myself helped Ukrainians from morning to night, but I just request to think about what to do next. It is not possible to send the signal that Germany erstwhile sent that it was worth coming to Germany only for social services," he added.
Mr Trzaskowski stressed that the EU is presently discussing what Ukraine's support will look like in the coming months and years. In his opinion, the proposal presented by him is “healthy”. “This is not a change of opinion,” he said.
