On 21-23 August this year, the global quartet of Rafał Sarnecki will again appear in China. The band will play 3 concerts in Beijing, presenting the latest leader material. It will be Sarnecki's twelfth visit to the mediate State. The concerts will be held as part of the task JAZZ POLSku “About the World”.
The Quartet is composed of musicians from 4 different continents and cultures who communicate perfectly on phase thanks to the universal language of music.
Next to Rafał Sarnecki, the guitarist and composer from Warsaw, will perform:
- American saxophonist Nathaniel Gao,
- Chinese bassist Wang Chenhuai and
- Colombian drummer Victor Bastidas.
The artists met during their studies in fresh York City and have been working together for over a decade. Together they will execute songs from Sarnecki's latest album, “A View From The Treetop”, as well as older compositions.
Rafał Sarnecki Quartet will execute in Beijing:
- August 21st at Smoke Club,
- August 22 at East Shore Club and
- August 23 at Piazza Di Roma Club.
Sarnecki is the most frequently performing Polish jazz musician in China, who has played over 120 concerts since 2015.
The band's music combines jazz with elements of different musical styles in an intelligent and humorous way. You can hear country inspiration, metal, baroque, boogie-woogie or punk. The compositions are based on clear contrasts: classically sounding phrases intertwin with metallic riffs, dissonant melodic lines are combined with simple, "outer" chords, and contemporary jazz harmonys are embedded in a boogie-woogie rhythm. It is these stylistic collisions that give the band's music an first and recognizable character.
