Typhoon fighters of the Royal Air Force carried out their first operational flight in the Polish airspace as part of the NATO mission "Eastern Sentry" – stated the Operational Command of the RSZ. This was an action in the alleged vigilance activity, or regular defence operations, which show NATO's ability to respond rapidly to possible threats.

On the weekend, Polish sky was patrolled, among others, by 2 fighters Eurofighter Typhoon from the 3rd Hunting Division from RAF Coningsby Base. They were supported by a multitasking Voyager transport-fueling aircraft from the 101st Squadron. It was the first operational participation of RAF fighters in the mission ‘Eastern Sentry’ (‘Eastern Guard’), established to strengthen the safety of the east NATO flank after Russian drones invaded Poland on 10 September.

– Infringement of Polish airspace by Russia Many drones are unacceptable. The goal of the east Sentry mission is to defend NATO airspace and send a clear signal: we are united in the face of all threats to our allies," says General Allan Marshall, commander of the United Kingdom Air and Space Force.

RECLAMA

Marshall points out that the deployment of British aircraft from RAF Coningsby and RAF Brize Norton base demonstrates the readiness and capability of British aviation to rapidly and decisively extend air forces. "These missions will not only strengthen NATO's air defence, but will besides service as a deterrent to Russian aggression. At the same time, they keep RAF's commitment to defending UK airspace and carrying out many another operational activities at home and abroad," says the commander. The General assures that Typhoons will execute regular combat flights, integrating with another NATO Air Force.

The nonsubjective of NATO Operation east defender is to strengthen the east flank of the Alliance in the face of Russia's aggressive actions. The Operational Command of the MSZ stresses that NATO's actions are not limited to responding to individual events. It is simply a system-based strengthening of resilience and combat preparedness, which means greater engagement of fighters and frigates in the patrolling of the Baltic, improvement of anti-aircraft defence systems, and implementation of fresh anti-dron and cybernetic technologies.
