TVP and Pluralism

A paper containing these principles was prepared in August 2015. It was accepted by one-man board, which included then president Janusz Daszczyński. Krzysztof Luft points out that the task has not yet been cancelled. Nor has a fresh akin paper been formulated. It follows so that this is an interior law that should apply to TVP. It's just a theory, of course.

As already mentioned, the main aim was to guarantee that opinions and information were clearly separated from each another and that each typical had equal access to public media. The paper besides talks about the request for journalists to stay impartial about the campaign.

Only 3 people voted for this resolution: Krzysztof Luft, Janusz Daszczyński and Fr Józef Kloch.

Criticism by Krzysztof Luft

Apparently, the members of the Council associated with the Law and Justice do not see the request for TVP to adhere to the principles of pluralism, impartiality, balance and independency during the campaign, the detailed improvement of which is the 2015 paper of president Daszczyński. I'm not surprised, although I'm a small amazed that they're declaring it so openly. – assessed Luft.

Apparently, pro-government members of the Programme Council do not see the request for TVP to respect the principles of pluralism, impartiality and independence. It doesn't surprise me, it's just a small amazed that they're declaring it so openly. https://t.co/M6q1pKDGqL

The Luft then points out that the appeal to the another members of the Council having plans to launch in the parliamentary election was ignored. Both Skurkiewicz and Sobzek said that they saw no reason to suspend their participation in the work of the TVP Programme Council during the campaign. The Luft believes that a highly unethical action is emerging, namely that candidates from the ruling organization will study and measure the campaign.

But not all have done so. Iwona Szlegńska-Katrasińska and Joanna Scheering-Wielgus decided to suspend their participation in the Council's work during the election campaign.

Guarantees and practice

It is worth quoting here assurances about the pluralism observed by TVP. Indeed, specified assurances have died. In 2019, the head of TVP proudly stated:

We take care of the pluralism of the debate by inviting representatives of various options.

Even earlier, in 2017, Jacek Kurski promised that the pluralism taken on the wallpaper is most present in Public Television, and – what is more – there is simply a anticipation of conducting a debate.

Anyone who is simply a typical of real forces Politicalwhether social has unfettered access and freedom of speech in Polish Television – he said.

The independent, pluralistic and impartial way of reporting the election run on TVP will be watched by the members of the Program Council who are moving for the organization of power in these elections. It's ridiculous and indecent.
PiS candidates do not want to suspend their membership...

Kurski besides pointed out that TVP competitors in the commercial marketplace have revenues of PLN 6 billion and are not obliged to carry out any public tasks. Meanwhile, public tv has an income of PLN 400 million per billion and at the same time carries out many public missions.

Although Kurski's opinion is already old, it seems that the TVP board inactive believes in its veracity. It remains to be considered how many these missions are and whether they are actually public or private. Specifically, it's aimed at the benefit of the members of the Law and Justice.
