SYDNEY- Qantas (QF) is expanding its international network with new destinations from Perth (PER) to Auckland (AKL) and Johannesburg (JNB), alongside increased services to Dallas (DFW) and Los Angeles (LAX). These developments, starting in December 2025, strengthen Perth’s role as a key aviation hub.

The new routes and schedule enhancements will add over 155,000 seats annually, boosting Western Australia’s economy through tourism and job creation.

Qantas 2 New International Destinations

Starting December 2025, Qantas (QF) will launch three weekly flights from Perth (PER) to Auckland (AKL) and three weekly flights to Johannesburg (JNB), operated by Airbus A330 aircraft.

This move aims to increase international connectivity for Australians while creating job opportunities and promoting tourism in Western Australia.

The new routes are made possible through funding from the Australian Government, allocated to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Australian Border Force.

This support enables Perth Airport (PER) to improve biosecurity infrastructure, increase staffing, and accommodate more international services.

  • Perth-Auckland (QF111): 3x weekly, 6h 45m flight time.
  • Perth-Johannesburg (QF65): 3x weekly, 11h 15m flight time.
  • A330 Cabin: 27 lie-flat business seats, 224 economy seats.

The Perth–Auckland flight (QF111) will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, taking approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Perth–Johannesburg service (QF65) will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, with a flight time of about 11 hours and 15 minutes.

Each Airbus A330 features 27 lie-flat business class seats and 224 economy seats.

These new services offer smoother one-stop connections to global destinations such as New York (JFK) via Auckland and Cape Town (CPT) via Johannesburg, facilitated by Qantas’ international partners like Airlink.

US Network and Seasonal Adjustments

Qantas (QF) also announced that from October 2025, it will deploy its Boeing 787 Dreamliner daily between Brisbane (BNE) and Los Angeles (LAX), enhancing premium seating options for Queensland travelers.

During December 2025 and January 2026, the route will be jointly operated with American Airlines (AA), continuing a strong trans-Pacific partnership.

Melbourne (MEL) to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) will see daily 787 services over the same period. The Brisbane–Los Angeles Dreamliner flights will return to daily operation in February 2026.

Additionally, Jetstar (JQ) will end its Sydney (SYD)–Honolulu (HNL) route in October 2025, reallocating its Dreamliner fleet to Asian markets.

In its place, Qantas will operate 5–6 weekly services between Sydney and Honolulu, complementing the recent launch of Qantas’ Melbourne–Honolulu flights.

Qantas Plans

Qantas’ final Airbus A380 is set to return to service in January 2026 and will be used on daily flights between Sydney (SYD) and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW).

This upgrade significantly boosts capacity on the route, adding First, Business, and Premium Economy options for passengers.

Meanwhile, Perth Airport (PER) is preparing for future growth by expanding capacity in Terminals 3 and 4 as an interim measure before Qantas relocates to new facilities at Airport Central in 2031.

The added capacity will support new and expanded international routes from Western Australia.

Kate Holsgrove, Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer at Perth Airport, highlighted the significance of these additions, stating they will “create more opportunities for Western Australia’s tourism industry and provide more options for Western Australians to travel.”
