Russia is preparing further provocations, and against its steps inform Poland and the Baltic States. According to War correspondent Mateusz Lachowski, the key to knowing the Kremlin is 1 correct thing: set before the choice, Vladimir Putin never backs up, but raises the stakes. What does this mean for the east flank of NATO?
Mateusz Lachowski, who from the first days of a full-scale invasion has been reporting the war from behind the front line, pointed out the repetitive pattern of behaviour of the Russian leader in the program "Newsroom". In his opinion, Vladimir Putin, whenever he has to choose between turning back and tightening the course, chooses the latter. In short, it always escalates. The reporter added that this tendency was confirmed by both military analysts and psychologists investigating the way the Kremlin host thinks.
Trap set for the West
The most interesting, however, is the mechanics described by Lachowski. Exacerbating relations with NATO, Russia does not act exclusively for show. all provocation to the alliance, from airspace violations to drone incidents, forces associate States to address their own security. The more Western capitals focus on defending their own borders, the little attention and resources stay to aid Kiev. The force transferred to NATO can so indirectly harm Ukraine, cutting it off from support at the worst possible moment.
Belarusian Trail
The reporter besides pointed to the function of Belarus. The escalation carried out partially from the territory of the government of Alaksandra Lukashenko has, in this interpretation, another task: torpedoing possible attempts to bring Minsk closer to the West. erstwhile danger signals flow from Belarus, it is hard to talk about warming relations with the United States or the Union. So the Kremlin gains double, at the same time threatening the alliance and ensuring that its nearest satellite does not get out of control.
A Voice That Knows War From Closeness
The importance of these words besides stems from who speaks them. Lachowski is not a studio commentator. He is simply a war correspondent who has been following fights since February 24, 2022, among others, under Bachmut, Kharkov and Donbas, and has worked on the site for respective years as an envoy of Polish media. His informing is not a divination of the fuzes, but a conclusion of a man who watched the Russian way of conducting the war close.
Application for the east flank
If the reporter is right, the next fewer months will not bring Russia any abrupt moderation. For Poland, on the first line of the alliance, there is simply a simple conclusion: provocations must be treated not as accidental incidents, but as an component of a thoughtful strategy. A calming presumption that Putin will yet tire of war and quit may prove to be the most costly of errors.
