Germany, on 1 September 2026, attributed Russia's effort to attack Leipzig/Halle Airport on 4 August, where a drone with explosives was found. The device was disabled, so there were no casualties. For Poland, the conclusion is hard: Kremlin examines NATO's resilience with actions below the threshold of open war.
Drone in Leipzig and authoritative indication of Russia

Poland cannot bring its own defence to believe that allied declarations will work automatically. Dispute over the real meaning of Article 5 National resilience must be turned into: counterintelligence capable of rapidly breaking up grids, protecting railway and air nodes, securing private company systems, and clear procedures for military, police and administration cooperation. This is the task of the Polish state. Brussels communications will not replace efficient services in Warsaw.
Poland must answer to sabotage, not after it
The cheapest for an opponent is an attack carried out by individual else's hands on a poorly protected target. The most costly for Poland would be to recognise all incidental as an isolated accident. The National Prosecutor's Office's announcement registry on Spying, Diversification and Sabotage covers dozens of proceedings from 2024 to 2026. The State must combine these points before the opponent joins them.
The lives of Poles, the continuity of transport, the safety of manufacture and the credibility of the east flank of NATO are at stake. Russia will deter unacceptable costs, not further concerns. The Polish answer should be calm, legally fixed and absolutely effective: fast detection, conviction, expulsion of abroad officers and strengthening of the mark that was attempted to violate. The Kremlin works quietly. The Polish state has no right to sleep.
