President Vladimir Putin admitted that the Russian air defence destroyed the Azerbaijani civilian aircraft in 2024. The Russian leader spoke to the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev about this.
"Of course, the Russian side will do everything essential in specified tragic cases for damages, and all formal cases will be subject to legal assessment" - Putin Aliev said. Russia undertook to carry out a legal analysis of the full incident.
Disaster Details
The tragedy occurred last December 25 at the airport in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The device was shelled erstwhile approaching landing in Grozny, where the attack of Ukrainian drones continued at the time.
