By 8 August, the war in Ukraine is to end – at least this is the consequence of Donald Trump's ultimatum, if we presume that the Kremlin will indeed fear the threatening finger of Washington. Russia has six more days to make peace, after an earlier shortening of the ultimatum word by the American leader. On Friday Vladimir Putin first referred to Trump's threats... Expressing hope that talks with Kiev will continue.
On Friday, India decided to suspend purchases of Russian oil after the US president Donald Trump imposed higher duties on the country. It is not known whether this has just made specified an impression on Moscow, but Vladimir Putin stopped ignoring Trump's warnings and yet spoke on his ultimatum.
Putin estimated that if individual expected better results from erstwhile talks between Russia and Ukraine, he most likely had besides “excess expectations”. At the same time, he expressed his desire for further negotiations with Kiev, as he said during a gathering with president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, in the presence of journalists. He stressed that conversations should be held "without cameras and in a quiet atmosphere".
The president of Russia is in no hurry to make peace. most likely because, as he himself said during his gathering with Lukashenko, the “situation favors” his country. He assured that Russian troops were moving forward all the time. He stated that Russia occupied the village of Twadiw Jar in Donbasa after 16 months of fighting.
From another reports we know that the Russians cut off the penultimate logistics artery to strategically crucial for further defence of Ukraine Pokrowska. "We'll lose Pokrowsk. It's only a substance of time," said 1 of Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front.
So the fight against the time that flows in favour of Moscow continues. A fewer days ago – 29 July – the president of the United States decided to shorten the deadline of the ultimatum applied to Russia from 50 days to 10. Trump wants to force the Russians to negociate with Ukraine and halt fighting. He threatened to impose fresh sanctions and duties on Russia if not. The tariffs are besides intended to cover countries which buy oil from Russians – until late besides India, which, under the force of American customs, have resigned from cooperation with Moscow in this respect.
