Ramzan Kadyrov, a longtime Chechnya leader, reported that he had turned to Vladimir Putin requesting his release from office. According to "New Gazieta. Evropa", Kadyrov's deteriorating wellness condition may trigger a script of a change of power in the region.

For months the media have been speculating about serious wellness problems of the Chechen leader. Journalists noted, among others, facial oedema, which may indicate the treatment of cancer or kidney disease. Now, according to an independent Russian "Nowaja Gazieta. Evropa", Kadyrov barely leaves Grozny (the capital of Chechnya), spending most of his time at Aymed Clinic, where he sleeps under the care of doctors. In the event of a deterioration in health, there is simply a rescue chopper close the airport that "carrys it where it needs to be".

The diary further notes that Kadyrov's "activity is presently limited to publishing social media entries – for which his press service is to be responsible". The head of government of Magomed Daudow appears for him at public events.

The paper besides recalled that six years ago Chechen leader Kadyrov was diagnosed with pancreatic necrosis. It's a very serious illness whose mortality is almost 80 percent.

Although Kadyrov had previously repeatedly denied media reports of his sick health, posting in social media information that he "is alive and healthy" then in an interview with the pro-government editor of "The Szcznia Siegodnia" he referred to circulating rumors of his resignation.

– They compose all kinds of things. On the contrary, I am asking myself to be released from office. Others will have their own initiatives, their own vision. I hope that my request (directed to Putin - ed.) will be considered positively," he said.

Who can replace Kadyrov?

According to Russian law, Kadyrov's successor should be at least 30 years old. Meanwhile, according to experts, on whom TVN24 Kadyrov has been referring, he has long been preparing for the leadership function of his 17-year-old boy Adam, who late became the secretary of the Chechnya safety Council.

Moscow, however, is not in the hands of direct transfer of power to a minor. According to political scientist Yuri Svetov, the possible successor may be General Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Achmat peculiar Forces.

– He is simply a Russian hero, proven during a military operation in Ukraine, has experience and knows safety structures, says the words of the Holy TVN24. Politologist Stanisław Tarasov stressed, however, that "it is Kadyrov himself, not Putin, who will indicate his successor".
