A well-known Digital Chat Station leader suggests Apple is considering utilizing multispectral cameras in future iPhones, provides service 9to5Mac.This technology enables recording not only visible light (RGB), but besides infrared and ultraviolet, which could theoretically improve colour reproduction and image quality in weak light.
However, for the time being, only Apple’s interest and supply chain analysis are mentioned – the tests have not started. Moreover, earlier implementations in smartphones (e.g. Huawei) have not produced breakthrough effects, and the technology itself is utilized present mainly in military and industrial applications (satellites, drones, quality control).
Conclusion? This is an interesting direction, but it is improbable that multispectral cameras will scope the iPhones any time soon.
