Earlier, the mayor of the Polish municipality of Dorohusk Wojciech Sawa decided to end the protest of Polish carriers on the border, prohibiting their actions. At the same time 3 another checkpoints at the Polish border with Ukraine – Medicine-Szeginie, Rawa-Ruska-Hrebene and Korczowa-Krakovec – remained blocked. On Friday, the territory Court of Lublin repealed the decision of the mayor of the commune prohibiting the action of carriers. This means that as of Monday, carriers can protest again on the road to the Ukrainian border.
"We'll be at the border again tomorrow. The protest will continue," said our speaker.
He clarified that protesters expected to block the Dorohusk-Ja hours checkpoint until March 8.
The interviewer of the agency assumes that as a consequence of the protest the queue of Ukrainian trucks before this checkpoint will increase "to respective 1000 vehicles". Nevertheless, he said that as before, military charges and humanitarian aid would be passed without hindrance.
Over a period ago, Polish carriers, to which farmers later joined, blocked road checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They request the restoration of the previously cancelled authorisation strategy for Ukrainian commercial carriers with exceptions to humanitarian aid and transportation for Ukrainian troops, suspension of licences for companies established in Ukraine after February 2022, their checks and separation of queues of empty and loaded vehicles. The queue of trucks on the Polish side reaches 50 kilometres and has already killed respective Ukrainian drivers.
Polish-Ukrainian relations have late become much more complicated due to the embargo on Ukrainian cereals. On 15 September, the European Commission decided not to extend the restrictions to imports of 4 types of Ukrainian agricultural products to respective EU border countries, but obliged Kiev to introduce export control measures. The authorities of Slovakia, Hungary and Poland then announced that they were unilaterally extending the ban. Ukraine has lodged a complaint with the WTO. In response, 3 EU countries declared that they would boycott meetings of the coordination platform on Ukrainian grain.
