“New Epiphanies” is simply a festival organized by the Center of thought of John Paul II – a cultural institution of Warsaw. As part of the event, a scandalous exhibition “Hereticians” was planned, during which a “performative spiritual screening” will be held. There will besides be themes combining heretics and occultists with St. Faustina Kowalski or St. Joan of Arc. The Centre of Life and household protestes the event.
The organizers of the task indicate that “New Epiphanies” is simply a “festival that it grips”. This year, the exhibition “Herethics” will be held in which the context of the abyss – the subject of the festival – of the artists combine with the stories of heretics and esoterics. During the opening, there is besides to be a “performative spiritistic session”. During it, actor Beata Passini as a performer-woman-medium will effort to perceive to the voice of dead heretics. All of this is “under the name” of the organization which has St. John Paul II as its patron.
Against the scandalous exhibition and the promotion of spiritism, the Center of Life and household protestes, which draws attention to “blasphemous abuse in art”. The authors of the protest point out that the event "not only hurts, but clearly exceeds the limits of teaching the Catholic Church about blasphemy" – we read on the website www.bluznierczeepifanie.pl.
The Center of Life and household calls on the manager of the Center of thought John Paul II to retreat from the repertoire “New Epiphany” the blasphemous threads which hit the pope's legacy from Poland. "I do not agree that in the name of fashion for crossing sacrum and profanum, the truths of Catholic religion are questioned, and the name of saints, including holy Poles, is besides tarnished."
It is worth noting that the Center of thought of John Paul II, which is an institution of culture in Warsaw, does not organize “controversial” and shocking projects for the first time. In 2020, the performance “Model for the Field of the Triangulation” told about alleged polyamorical love. In turn, in 2022 the performance entitled “Jesus” was shown as “a horror of matrimony as a tool of biopolitical power”.
