Zbigniew Ziobro has nothing to go back to? The investigating officer on alleged irregularities in the Justice Fund ordered the safety of the assets of the erstwhile Minister of Justice. Ziobra's assets are to warrant the future enforcement of judicial decisions.

Prosecutor of Przemysław Nowak, the spokesperson for the National Prosecutor's Office, explained that, in accordance with Article 291(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the prosecution may order the safety of the assets of a fishy to which charges have been filed which may consequence in the imposition of a fine or a compensatory measure. In specified cases, the property may be utilized as cover for the measures in question.

The decision to safe the assets of the Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobry was issued – as stated on Thursday by the Polish Press Agency – on 12 November.

The safety is intended to guarantee that the fishy does not effort to dispose of, incriminate or conceal assets which can ensure, as the national prosecutor points out, that decisions specified as fines, forfeiture, compensation or reimbursement are enforceable.

The erstwhile head of the Justice Ministry of the Law and Justice Government has been in the Hungarian capital for weeks, where he left just before being charged with 26 alleged irregularities in the Justice Fund. The allegations include, among others, the establishment and management of an organized crime group. The group, which was allegedly headed by Ziobro, was to claim PLN 150 million from the then Ministry of Justice of the Justice Fund. Even 25 years of imprisonment are at stake.

Although he is not planning to return to the country for the time being, he besides announced that he would not search political asylum in Hungary – like his organization colleague Marcin Romanowski.

The portal “Rzeczpospolita” reminds that respective years ago, the assets of the then minister of justice were screened by journalists of “Virtual Poland”. It was then established that Ziobro and his wife, Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro, owned 2 apartments, 2 houses and shares in the third, as well as respective arres of agricultural and forestry land. As the ‘Rz’ notes, Ziobrów's assets are not shared – all of these properties have separate properties. The property of the MP alone was at that time about PLN 3 million.
