The Law and Justice administration was to consider replacing Przemysław Czarnek as a candidate for Prime Minister. However, the party's later position is clear: the candidate remains the erstwhile Minister of Education. The dispute exposes the greater problem of the right hand, namely the fight for voters without losing credibility in matters of safety of Poland.
Reports of a change of candidate
The diary of Law Paper stated on 15 July, citing talks with the politicians of Law and Justice that the party's leadership is seriously considering replacing the candidate as Prime Minister. According to the newspaper, less and less people were to defend Przemysław Czarnek, and in autumn the task related to his candidacy could be completed.
The reason was to halt the outflow of any voters to the Confederation and the Confederation of the Polish Crown Grzegorz Braun. The DGP besides pointed to the dispute raised by Czarnek's statements on the cessation of military aid to Ukraine. Jarosław Kaczyński publically criticized this direction.
These are press arrangements based on anonymous callers, not the announced decision of the Law and Justice authorities. This difference is fundamental. PiS upholds the candidacy of Przemysław Czarnka
The later announcement contradicts the thought of a definite change. PiS spokesperson Rafał Bochenek stated in late July that the party's candidate for Prime Minister was Przemysław Czarnek and that the replacement script was not considered.
Czarnek was designated by Jarosław Kaczyński during the March Law and Justice Convention in Kraków as a candidate for a group as head of government following parliamentary elections. Until a fresh authoritative decision, this is the state of affairs. The header with the completed task may well circulate in organization crutches, but it does not replace facts.
This does not mean that there is no discussion in the Law and Justice. The parties analyse support, measure the run and consider individual variants. However, the liable editor must separate the interior attachments from the decision that binds the full group.
The right needs a program, not a name exchange.
The dispute over candidacy shows weakness wider than the destiny of 1 politician. The Polish right will not regain assurance just by changing the face on the poster. It needs a clear programme to defend sovereignty, a cheaper state, safe borders and reconstruction of public services. He must besides talk about the war in Ukraine from the position of Polish national interest, but without ignoring the Russian threat.
Tough policy is not about effective declarations. Assistance to Ukraine should be transparent, accountable and subject to the safety of the Republic. At the same time, weakening the defence capacity of the state fighting Russia can straight worsen Poland's position. National realism requires an impact account, not a password auction.
For voters, the ability of the future Prime Minister to build a majority and manage effectively is besides important. The candidate should combine the right-wing electorate, defend social governance and present concrete solutions for families and entrepreneurs. designation alone won't pay the bills and strengthen the army.
The decision belongs to the organization authorities and voters
For present Przemysław Czarnek remains a candidate of the PiS for Prime Minister. Information on possible change is an crucial signal of tension, but remains media reports. Honesty to the reader requires a simple name.
The stakes for Poland are serious. The opposition aspiring to take over must prove that it can put national interest above a fractional gameplay. If the PiS wants to change a candidate, it should do it openly and justify the selection of the program. If it stays with Czarnek, it should end individual leaks and show Poles the plan of governance. The state needs responsibility, an endless exchange of names.
