The president addressed the budget to the TK: it is simply a budget of unfulfilled promises

President Karol Nawrocki signed the budget bill for 2026 while besides referring it to the Constitutional Court. According to the President's Office, the decision comes from a constitutional work – the head of state has no right of veto towards the budget.

The president critically assessed the budget bill, calling it a "stage budget", based on expenditure chaos, rising debt and unfulfilled electoral promises. The president accused the government, among others, of not expanding the tax-free amount, low value of pensions, expanding the burden on entrepreneurs and insufficient backing of science, culture and athletics – a deficit of almost 1 3rd of expenditure means that "every 3rd of the euro is on loan".

This budget shows a deep crisis of credibility, effectiveness and legitimacy of the current government. This is simply a budget that shows helpless surrender to the challenges facing Poland. Despite the harsh criticism of Nawrocki, he signed the bill, arguing that the deficiency of a budget would jeopardise the stableness of the state and could become an excuse for the inaction of the government. Addressing the Act to the Constitutional Tribunal has – as he stressed – “to defend the future of Poland”. At the same time, he called for urgent changes to guarantee unchangeable backing of wellness care.
