President Karol Nawrocki did not sign an amendment to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens. “The 800+ benefit should only be paid to people working in Poland,” the president pointed out.

President Nawrocki pointed out that the amendment did not take into account changes in the rules for granting the 800+ benefit – according to the proposed criterion, which was the subject of a public debate, the benefit should only go to Ukrainians working in Poland.

"The law on assistance to citizens of Ukraine does not make this adjustment, which was the subject of a public debate. I will not change my opinion, and I believe that 800 plus should belong only to those Ukrainians who make efforts to work in Poland," said president Nawrocki.

The president besides criticised inequalities in the wellness system, pointing out that Ukrainians, even those who do not work, have better access to care than Polish citizens.

The president announced his own legislative initiative, which proposes, among another things, extending the process of granting citizenship to 10 years and tightening penalties for illegal crossing the border. The task is besides intended to include a ban on the promotion of flag symbols, which are to be treated equally with Nazi and Communist symbols.
