Latvian President: increase the number of soldiers by 25%

The president, along with the commander of the armed forces, General Kaspars Pudans, visited the area on the River Dzwina in the central part of the country in the Jakubów area, where the largest military field of over 25,000 hectares in the Baltic states is built, capable of accepting NATO alliance units. It is assumed that the first military exercises will be able to be carried out in these areas in 2026, or possibly later this year. Eventually, about 2,000 soldiers will be able to be stationed in this area after the expansion of the infrastructure.
