Position of the President
President Duda, who amazed a fewer days ago, approving the in vitro bill, was highly categorical this time:
‘Having respect to the draft resolution on the restoration of the legal order and impartiality and reliability of public media and the Polish Press Agency, following Article 126(2) of the Constitution, according to which the president of the Republic of Poland is in charge of complying with the Constitution, I present the following position to the Speaker“The president wrote in a letter to the talker of the Sejm.
The president wrote about public media missions
Although many commentators (out of different options) believe that public media have actually become organization media, the president wrote in his letter about their mission:
Andrzej Duda recalled Article 21 of the Law of 29 December 1992 on Broadcasting and Television, which states that "public radiophony and tv carry out a public mission, offering, in accordance with the principles set out in the Act, various programmes and another services in the field of information, publications, culture, entertainment, education and sport, characterised by pluralism, impartiality, balance and independency and innovation, advanced quality and integrity of communication".
Looking at how frequently PiS politicians appear in public media, how they are presented, how mostly only the supporters of this organization express their opinions there (e.g. Tomasz Sakiewicz or Karnowski brothers), words about pluralism, impartiality and independency can be undermined.
The CBOS is disproving the president?
It is worth noting 1 conviction expressed by the head of state: “It should be taken into account that the social evaluation of public media varies.’
The Center for Social Opinion investigation in 2022 presented the results of investigation on media assurance (TVP, TVN, Polsat): "The opinions on the worst rated ... station – TVP have not changed significantly. ... Only the declared voters of the Law and Justice organization justice public tv unequivocally positively.’
Critic evaluation of TVP by right-wing publicist
Not much, even the writer of the pro-scriptive “Network” Bronisław Wildstein in 2017 tried to find out what makes TVP and Polish Radio heading on the road “self-consciousness that becomesSelf-destruction‘.
Wildstein even talked about sabotage:
‘At first, I thought it was sabotage. TVP Info was mastered by a CODE that does everything to extort fresh power and its transmission. It seems to me that the late cancelled chief of this station, Piotr Lichota, would not let anything like this to happen.“ Wilstein wrote his time. Andrzej Duda, meanwhile, is possibly purely pragmatic, with his political future in mind, of the view that TVP is inactive to be a tv for the hard-core PiS electorate.
