President Nawrocki came to visit Lithuania, where he met president Nauseda. Both leaders stressed that the presence of American troops is key to ensuring the region's security.
During his visit to Vilnius, president Nawrocki stressed that Lithuania is simply a close ally of Poland in NATO and the EU, and the Baltic Sea region and Central and east Europe must respond jointly to the threat from Russia. “We are not only afraid about this, due to the fact that we know, of course, the spirit of the Russian Federation, but we are besides able to respond together, and that was besides what our gathering was about: the joint reactions of our countries in the face of the hybrid war, which is going on right at our borders,” says the president quoted by PAP.
Karol Nawrocki pointed out that Donald Trump is the only leader who can get Putin to end the war. He recalled that during his visit to Washington, the president of the United States announced the strengthening of American military engagement in Poland.
Both Presidents agreed that further assistance from Ukraine is needed and increased defence spending (up to 5% of GDP): "It must be made clear that many countries in Europe have been driving on a stowaway issue. (...) I am very happy that the common sense of the president of the United States, but besides of us – the president of Poland and the president of Lithuania, another European leaders, has led to a situation where we want to spend 5% of GDP on reinforcements in a collective way and we are building our work for Central Europe," president Nauseda stressed.
