II tour in Turkey. Erdogan goes to win

Presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Turkey last weekend. Turnout was very advanced – in the presidential election attendance was 86% and parliamentary 84%.

In the parliamentary elections, the ACP government achieved a much worse score than in 2018 (previously it had 295 MPs, and now "only" 267). This is somewhat little than essential for the independent majority (301 out of 600 parliamentary seats). However, it should be remembered that the ACP remains in the coalition with the nationalist MHP, which won 50 seats in the parliament. The ACP and MHP will so make another common government without problems.

As far as the presidential election is concerned, although any of the polls showed a crucial decline in Erdogan's popularity, the incumbent president inactive won 49.50% of all votes. So it was almost adequate for him to win in the first round.

The opposition candidate, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, won about 44, 89% of the vote. Both gentlemen will face the second circular again in 2 weeks. Erdogan is simply a “walled winner”. With an attendance of 86%, Kılıçdaroğlu has already reached the proverbial "wall", there is no 1 else to mobilize the vote. Oppositions to take over the President's seat are all the little so that 3rd place in the election (with a consequence of 5%, which gives about 2.8 million votes) was taken by Sinan Oğan, a erstwhile associate of the nationalist MHP, whose electorate in the II circular will vote mainly for Erdogan.

The Turkish elections showed that even the mediocre economical condition of the country is not able to lead to a mass reversal of voters from Erdogan and the ruling ACP. Turkish politics proceed to be governed by a "cultural war".

From the information that appears, there was no forgery during the election. Of course, there have been any incidents, but nothing suggests that the final consequence of the vote should be distorted in any crucial way. The authoritative results coincide with those reported by the ANKA independent press agency. Large scale forgerys, so I'd alternatively It wasn't. However, this does not change the fact that the full run was conducted on an uneven basis. The governing ACP at all turn threw the opposition at its feet, e.g. by bringing an absurd trial to the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu and thus eliminating him from the race for President
