President Karol Nawrocki stated that his decision to refuse 46 judges nominations does not require formal justification. As he explained, judges should issue judgments alternatively than “turn courtrooms into a gathering room”.
The Justice Ministry had previously reported that the letter from the President's Chancellery lacked a justification for the decision. Nawrocki, however, noted that he had a constitutional right to do so. He besides criticised Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek, accusing him of being unaware of the Constitution and the 2012 Constitutional Court's judgment, adding that "his legal equivalent begins to eat its own tail".
