The Prime Minister took part in the signing of an erection act and the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the municipal fire brigade in Ruda Śląska. In the years 2022-2025 we implement the Programme of Modernization of the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service. The Fire Department will receive over PLN 1.9 billion for investments in infrastructure, equipment and human resources.

Support to the State Fire Department
In 2022, PSP celebrated its 30th anniversary. Firefighters operate in fires, accidents and rescue operations of various types. They besides support the State Medical Rescue System. They besides engaged in action in the fight against COVID-19.

In 2022 we started the 4 year program of modernization of the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service. Out of the full amount of funds transferred to firefighters, we will allocate PLN 800 million to the construction of fresh guards and modernization of existing ones. The Programme will make 53 fresh guards and 67 existing buildings will be upgraded. We plan to acquisition 40 peculiar fire vehicles (cars with mechanical ladder) and to strengthen PSP by 750 fresh jobs.
We invest resources in fresh equipment. In 2023, we will allocate PLN 350 million from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management to the task "We aid and defend – the police and the State Fire Department for the Protection of Biodiversity". The Police office and the State Fire Department will gain 2 helicopters with equipment to participate in rescue and firefighting operations.
Legal solutions for firefighters
In January 2023, we adopted solutions that will bring affirmative results, among others, in the Fire Department:
- draft law on the provision of money to household members of officers or professional soldiers who have died in connection with the service or outside the service of a life-saving or human wellness or property
- draft Act amending certain laws in connection with the introduction of a long service benefit
The first task introduces cash benefits for household members of fallen officers and soldiers. It includes officers of the State Fire Department, but besides fellow volunteer fire brigades. The second guarantees officers, including the State Fire Department, a fresh service after 15 years of service. This is an incentive to stay in the ministry longer.
As of 1 January 2022 additional support may besides be provided to those active in the activities of the Fire Service Volunteers (OSP). Almost 100,000 fellow-emeritus have been expected to receive a rescue service for years in the TSO after the entry into force of the first in the past of the Fire Brigade Volunteer Act.
