Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki took part in the Firefighter's Day Central Celebration. It is simply a professional vacation for all firefighters from the State Fire Service (PSP) and the Volunteer Fire Service (SP). This day is an chance to thank all firefighters and friends for their hard work and risking their lives. Since 2016, our government has steadily increased resources for the improvement of firehouses. We have besides introduced a number of solutions to support firefighters and their families.
Firefighter Day Celebrations






The Polish Parliament in 2003 established the Firefighter's Day on 4 May, which is celebrated as a professional holiday. That day we besides remember those who died in the ministry. During today's celebrations, the Chief Chief of the State Fire Service reported to the president of Poland and to the Prime Minister. Graduates of the Fire Chief School received promotion to the first rank of officer in the State Fire Department. The president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, besides handed over acts of superbrigadier.

Support for the State Fire Department
We introduced a program of modernization of the Police, Border Guard, State Fire Service and State Protection Service from 2022 to 2025. Thanks to it, the State Fire Department will receive over PLN 1.9 billion. The program is based on 2 segments. The first will make 53 fresh guards and 67 existing buildings will be upgraded. A full of 40 peculiar fire vehicles were besides planned to be purchased. The second section is an investment in human capital. The PSP will be strengthened for 4 years by 750 fresh jobs. The State Fire Department besides receives backing under targeted projects.
“We want all your actions to be carried out as safely as possible, precisely due to the fact that there are fresh fire trucks, as well as state-of-the-art equipment,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Support for Voluntary Fire Service
Since 2016, we have co-financed the acquisition of 2951 fire trucks for fire brigade volunteer units across Poland. In 2023 we plan to acquisition 677 rescue and firefighting vehicles.
Over 3300 Fire Department Volunteers will be equipped with another fire equipment this year, including:
- personal protective equipment (mudes, helmets, protective shoes);
- communication equipment, armaments (wood and metallic saws);
- rescue and firefighting equipment (pumps, snakes).
"This year we will pass on a evidence number of fire trucks for the Volunteers Fire Service and the State Fire Department" - emphasised the Prime Minister.
We besides support youth fire teams. Last year we donated PLN 25 million for this purpose, this year it is PLN 40 million. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stressed that these funds were well invested.
Support for firefighters and their families
We have introduced solutions that straight support firefighters and their families.
- Act amending certain laws in connection with the introduction of a long service benefit
Officials of the State Fire Department will receive a fresh service after 15 years of service. The amount of the benefit is 5% of the basic wage due after reaching 15 years of service. It is increased by 1% of the basic wage due for each consecutive year of service, but not more than 15% after 25 years of service.
- Fire Department Volunteer Act
Thanks to it, almost 100,000 friends – pensioners have been expected to receive a rescue service for years in the TSO. The right to this benefit shall be exercised by TSOs' squad members who have actively participated in activities or shares at least erstwhile each year for at least 25 years (for men) and 20 years (for women).
- Act on the provision of money to household members of officers or professional soldiers who have died in connection with the service, or undertake outside the service of a life-saving or human wellness or property
As a result, close PSP officers and the friends of the TSO, whose deaths occurred, among others, in the performance of their duties in life and health-threatening conditions, will receive financial support. The benefit will besides go to the household of persons who have undertaken outside the service activities related to the protection of safety and public order, the saving of life or human wellness or property which consequence in the hazard of their own life or health.
