RECLAMA

The head of government said we were in a minute of "global hesitation". – We live in conflict conditions right at our borders. We have violent and sometimes uncontrollable, especially by average people, advancement in civilization. All this makes any European citizens feel like they have lost their ground. So we are talking about a crisis of any affirmative emotions and a crisis of the spirit, but objectively Europe has no reason for complexes – the leader of the Polish government argued.

The erstwhile president of the European Council acknowledged that specified emotions could have been caused by policy new administration in the United States. This is simply a mention to president Donald Trump's position, who believes that Europe must take greater work for its own safety alternatively than anticipate protection from American allies. Let's take it as a affirmative challenge. In fact, only an ally can want his ally to be stronger – the Polish Prime Minister assured. And he emphasized: "You gotta believe in your strength again. This possible is simply a fact. We are strong, equal to the world's top powers, but we gotta believe it!

Donald Tusk then outlined the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. He was the first to indicate external security. “This is simply a time erstwhile Europe cannot save money on security. I talk as Prime Minister of a country that already spends almost 5% of GDP on security – he noted. He added that this money besides goes to the safety of all Europe, due to the fact that Poland has a long border with Russia, Belarus and with a friendly but war-in Ukraine.

And he emphasized not to underestimate Donald Trump's call for 5% of GDP to be allocated by NATO countries. He warned that not only the future of Ukraine, but besides of Europe, and in a sense the future of the planet as we know it today, depends on it.

As the biggest threat to interior security, Donald Tusk indicated illegal migration and the deficiency of work of the authorities for a safe border. “If democracy is to survive, it cannot be associated with average people with powerlessness,” he said. – Do you know why political shamans or political lunatics so frequently come to the floor, saying that the conventional model of European democracy is to be discarded? due to the fact that we do not manage to safe the European border and the territory of the states, due to the fact that a large deal of helplessness has been accompanied by actions or, rather, deficiency of action from democratic governments – Tusk pointed out.

At the same time, he criticised any European regulations which made energy prices in any European countries "unacceptably high". “How do you want to compete with the American or Chinese economy if we have 3 times more costly energy?” he asked. "I would like to ask that we take a thorough and very critical look at all the regulations, including those resulting from the green governance [the programme, whose aim is to introduce economical standards that are neutral for the climate – ed.], and that we can change all those provisions that can lead to even higher energy prices," the head of the Polish government urged.
