In Poznań, there was a spectacular detention of a 34-year-old Ukrainian citizen, where police found nearly 2 kilos of drugs and an illegal gun. A man has been temporarily arrested and is facing 10 years in prison. The case has shaken the local community and may have further development.

Stop and search
On Thursday, June 5, 2025, officers of the Criminal Division of the Municipal Police office in Poznań detained a man suspected of drug trafficking. An intervention took place in Grunwald, Poznań, where policemen spotted a man acting suspiciously.

"During the inspection, it turned out that a 34-year-old boy was carrying a plastic bag of marijuana. Suspecting that he may have more prohibited substances, officers searched his apartment’ told the police.

Illegal finds
The search revealed:

  • Nearly 2 kg of drugs (including crystal and marijuana) hidden in different parts of the apartment,
  • Walther pistol without the required authorisation,
  • Pharmacy scales and large amounts of cash, which indicates the anticipation of dealing.

Arrest and threatening penalties
The court agreed with the prosecutor's request and applied to the detainee 3-month interim detention. The man heard the charges:

  • Holding a crucial amount of drugs,
  • Illegal possession of weapons.

He's in danger for these crimes. up to 10 years imprisonment. The investigation continues, and the police do not regulation out that further charges may arise.

Similar cases in Poland
This isn't the first case in fresh years. Previously, the media reported the detention of another Ukrainian citizens for drug trafficking:

  • In Katowice 26-year-old Ukrainian arrestedwhich has placed large quantities of drugs on the market,
  • Two another Ukrainian citizens supply dealers across Poland.

Political negligence: Who is liable for specified a threat?

Unfortunately, cases like this are not isolated. The preservation of any Ukrainian citizens, which pose a threat to the safety of Poles, is mostly the consequence of the policy of the Law and the current coalition. In February 2022 under the pretext of helping “war refugees”, without appropriate control and verification, thousands of people were admitted to Poland, including those with dubious reputation.

Both the erstwhile Government of the United Right and Donald Tusk's current cabinet, have underestimated the problem, treating him as irrelevant or trying to quiet him down. alternatively of effective solutions, specified as tightening border controls or consistent expulsion of perpetrators, we are dealing with silence and fake actions.

Meanwhile, Poles must bear the consequences of these negligencees. Do we truly gotta wait for further tragedies to get the authorities to take citizens' safety seriously?
