At least 2 perpetrators were to participate in the arson of the WB Group plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna, which occurred on the night of Sunday on Monday. The losses are at least PLN 15 million. The investigation concerns the activity of abroad intelligence and terrorist crime, so the safety of the Polish defence manufacture is at stake.

Foreign Intelligence Investigation

The company's surveillance has registered a masked man who defeated the barrier and planted a charge with flammable materials in 1 of the rooms. The fire managed to contain within 2 hours, but the demolition of warehouses was estimated at least PLN 15 million. The plant is to resume work after completion of the required formalities.

Virtual Poland has unofficially established that investigators presume the participation of at least 2 people. 1 man was recorded, but the way he entered the area and the choice of a circumstantial hall indicate prior designation of the security. This preparation distinguishes the planned operation from the accidental act of vandalism.

The National Prosecutor's Office conducts a case under Article 130 of the Criminal Code concerning participation in the activity of abroad intelligence against Poland. The arson was besides classified as a terrorist offence. This is the next phase of the case we wrote about after first information on possible arson of the WB Group plant.

Impact on Polish defence industry

The mark was no average warehouse. The WB Group plant in Skarżysko-Kamienna produces drone components for the Polish Army and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The company belongs to the most crucial private entities of the Polish defence sector, and its systems besides scope abroad customers.

That is why the bill for burnt property is not only at stake. It is about the resilience of the supply chain for the army, the protection of establishments of strategical importance and the state's ability to thwart further attempts. Poland lies in the back of the war in Ukraine. all attack on military production must be treated as an impact on the safety of the Republic, not as a regular criminal matter.

However, political intuition must not replace evidence. The service is investigating the lead of a abroad intelligence, but identifying the payer requires material that can withstand a trial. The state of serious acts quickly, but does not organise a trial based on conjecture.

Many services, 1 state responsibility

The directions of the proceedings are determined by the National Prosecutor's Office, the investigation is conducted by its out-of-town department in Krakow, and the material is collected by the police and the interior safety Agency. The Kielce Police Provincial office has set up a separate group for the case. specified an elaborate strategy makes sense only erstwhile competence is clear and information circulates without delay.

Investigators analyse surveillance, cell telephone data, witness reports, and available databases. It's a painstaking job, but it's up to her to get further than direct performers. Europe already knows how to recruit people online for simple diversion acts, as we described in our analysis of how sabotage strikes the European arms industry.

For Poland, the proposal is hard. Defence facilities, their suppliers and logistics infrastructure require protection that corresponds to the reality of a country bordering the war. Catching the arsonist will be an operational success. Breaking the full grid and securing the manufacture against the next strike will only be the success of the state.
