Polish maker of ballistic shields BC Arms presented 2 interesting news this year at the global Defence manufacture Salon: a light ballistic shield developed on the basis of experience from Ukraine and the Kolos strategy was created after listening to the needs of, among others, operators of a peculiar unit, who can avoid serious problems with the spine.
BC Arms presented various types of ballistic shields on this year's MSPO, designed for both civilian marketplace users and service representatives, including prison services and medical rescue services. “We are presently proposing our solutions to the military,” says Krzysztof Urban, head designer of BC Arms. fresh from this sector presented in Kielce was the K4 ballistic record. - She's the only way we can keep six shots of anti-tank ammunition. This has already been confirmed by tests at the Institute of safety Technology "Moratex" – stresses Urban.
Polish maker of ballistic shields attracted the attention of visitors besides with another products. The first was a light ballistic shield, which was made on the basis of experience from Ukraine. Both in the context of urban and forest activities. The shield has 2 straps that let you to easy usage it both on the left and on the right hand. Thanks to the cut on 1 edge, it can be utilized with a gun, with optoelectronic devices, leaning from behind the curtain, the corner of the building, etc. Moreover, the shield placed on the ground creates a firing position for a lying soldier. BC Arms besides proposes that 2 shields be placed side by side in specified a way that the cuts form 1 gap for fire or observation. According to Urban, a soldier behind specified a cover, on which a part of carimata, for example, will be placed, becomes virtually invisible to an opponent equipped with thermal imaging equipment.
– This solution is simple, inexpensive and easy to produce – says Bartosz Kuźnicki, CEO of BC Arms. The same characteristics the company attributes to its second fresh product, the Kolos system. – This is simply a passive exoskeleton mounted on any tactical belt or with a ballistic cartridge that “takes off” from the user up to 15 kg of equipment in the form of a vest and carries this weight to the hips” he explains.
– The minute we start to charge the front part of the vest, the strings carry the burden to the hips at the back with a adjustable tension. This makes it impossible for the user to compress the intervertebral discs. After many years of service, the soldier or the operator of the peculiar unit will not have very large problems with his spine – explains Urban and adds that Kolos is simply a consequence to the needs of e.g. specialists working on semi-rigid boats. – erstwhile the boat works, it hits the waves, the spine is exposed to overload. We heard this question, if there's anything we can do about it, and that's how the Colossus came to be. A simple but effective solution that we would like to make in cooperation with the army, so that we can comparatively cheaply bring it into the Polish army and relieve as many soldiers as possible," says Krzysztof Urban.
The Coloss presented at MSPO 2025, submitted for the Defender award, had protruding adjustment elements that would, however, “disappear” in the final version of the product. The full is to be low profile and comfortable in use, and at the same time very durable and reliable. At present, Colos is in the phase of a very advanced prototype, and BC Arms is full ready to start production.
