Exército Portuguęs has about 210 M113A1 and A2 armoured transporters in respective batches of equipment surpluses from the USA, Germany and the Netherlands. Until recently, this number was 255 wagons, but 45 were donated to Ukraine. There are inactive about a 100 specialised vehicles in the service, based on this chassis. At present, the Portuguese MON conducts a VCI-L investigation aimed at acquiring M113's successor in the form of a full-fledged combat infantry car.
