Not adequate electoral protests
On Monday, there was no planned gathering of the State Election Commission on irregularities in the counting of votes. It was only officially informed that an organisational gathering was held. The PKW thus distanced itself from allegations suggesting the anticipation of electoral falsifications, which were raised, among others, by a associate of the KO Roman Giertych and captured by a associate of the committee Ryszard Kalisz. It was Kalisz who had previously announced that on Monday at 17 PMPW he would analyse errors in protocols.
Yesterday, the ultimate Court, which is liable for examining the electoral protests, reported that 28 specified reports had been received. This is simply a tiny number compared to the protests following the 2023 parliamentary elections erstwhile the home of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs examined as many as 1175 electoral and 2286 referendum protests. A evidence was established in the past of the 3rd Polish parliamentary election. Nevertheless, those elections were not overturned.
After the 2020 presidential election, 5,800 protests were received to the ultimate Court. Of these, 92 were considered legitimate, but, according to the court, they did not affect the final result of the elections.
Communication on PKW website
After the gathering of an organisational nature, the State Election Commission published an authoritative communication on its website. He was informed that according to the PKW electoral code, he had 14 days from the announcement of the results to transmit the election study to the Marshal of the Sejm and the ultimate Court. The committee is presently working on this document, analysing, among others, data coming from constituency electoral commissions.
PKW besides recalled that by 16 June 2025 any voter listed on the electoral roster may study an electoral protest to the ultimate Court if he noted irregularities concerning voting or determining results. It was besides stressed that persons with information on election offences should immediately inform the prosecution or the police.
In addition, justice Sylwester Marciniak, president of PKW, powerfully stated in his discussion with the media that possible irregularities concern up to about 10 regional electoral commissions. This means that at this phase they are irrelevant to the final result of the presidential election.
Impact on election outcome
Ryszard Kalisz, a associate of the State Electoral Commission, recalled in “The Piasecki Conversation”, that electoral protests could be submitted until 16 June. Referring to the scale of the irregularity, he assessed it as small. According to him, the number of possible deficiencies is not approaching the difference of votes between the candidates Rafał Trzaskowski and Karol Nawrocki. Kalisz estimates that it may be hundreds of cases, but not thousands. He stressed that any irregularity is unacceptable in the democratic electoral process.
The Marshal Simon Holovnia is of the same opinion:
Every protest deserves to be examined, but so far there is no reason to challenge the election result announced by the Polish National Police Office. If the ultimate Court confirms their validity, I will call the National Assembly on 6 August to take an oath from president Karol Nawrocki. In democracy, voters' will is sacred – wrote Polish leader 2050 on platform X.
