Some time ago, we received a message from a distant corner of the planet — from Rotary Club in Malena, Queensland, Australia. A town with only 4,000 inhabitants can boast a vibrant club that responded to an appeal for assistance to the fighting Ukraine, deciding to finance the acquisition of portable power generators.
Even in peacetime, Rotary club from Malena had contacts with the club in Ukraine — Cherkasy-Centre. It was this club that was decided to hand over the essential equipment. Our club was asked to broker this project: from marketplace discernment, through the acquisition of generators to the organization of transport to Ukraine. In addition, any communication difficulties have arisen between the clubs involved, which thanks to our contacts have been resolved quickly, beginning the way to this noble undertaking.
It took any time to get detailed method information and to establish all the details. Finally, after clarifying all the issues, our account received funds from Australia that allowed us to acquisition 14 portable generators. Our club besides supported this initiative financially, and then took over customs formalities and organization of transportation of equipment to the club in Cherkasy.
The full operation lasted more than six months, but it was a complete success, as evidenced by the accompanying photos from the minute of receipt of the shipment at the destination. This is an example of how cooperation and solidarity, even over thousands of kilometres, can bring real aid where it is most needed.
