The war in Ukraine repeatedly reminded that its effects could cross the Polish border besides in the air. Each unidentified object over the territory of the Republic of Poland is simply a test for detection, command and communication. Poland cannot get utilized to violating its own space.
The state border besides runs in the air
The subject of Poland's safety against the war in Ukraine and the objects coming from the east was addressed in Radio by Maria Prof. Piotr Grochmalski, safety expert. The problem itself goes beyond a single incident. It concerns the state's ability to identify the threat, decide and inform the population.
Not all object crossing the border must be a deliberate attack on Poland. However, 1 cannot presume that he is harmless in advance. In conditions of war just abroad, minutes, efficient radars and a clear chain of work count.
Equipment is only the beginning
Air defence requires a layered system: detection, short and average scope measures, aviation and cooperation with NATO. civilian procedures are equally important. Residents of the affected area must rapidly receive a reliable message and field services should know where to search.
The state loses authority erstwhile information is late, conflicting or replaced by calming formulas. Operational secrecy is needed, but cannot be an excuse for informational chaos.
Poland State Right
Russia is at war in Ukraine and remains a major military threat to our region. Poland must support Ukraine's ability to defend itself while ensuring that its own resources and its own space are protected without gaps. Alliances strengthen the state, but do not relieve the authorities of responsibility.
The life of Poles and the credibility of the Republic are at stake. Any infringement should consequence in a fair explanation, assessment of procedures and correction of errors. Sovereignty, which we cannot defender over our own territory, becomes a word without cover.
