The Court of Justice of the European Union has decided that Poland is to pay EUR 8.3 million for not implementing the Online Copyright Directive.
EU law was to be implemented by June 2021, but Poland only adopted the applicable government in 2024. TEU considers that the country has failed to fulfil its obligations, and the arguments it cites regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and public consultation do not justify the delay.

European CommissionThe complainant stressed that the hold made it hard for creators and broadcasters to usage fresh rules for access to online content in European Union. The Court acknowledged her right and imposed on Poland financial penalty.
In the complaint European Commission She asked the Court, inter alia, to state that by not adopting the applicable provisions, Poland had failed to fulfil its obligations and to order our country to "pay the lump sum to the Commission".
