Poland and Canada strengthen cooperation. It's a consequence to threats from Russia

The national defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and his Canadian counterpart David McGuinty signed a letter of intent on cooperation under the SAFE programme, to which Canada joined as the only country outside the European Union.

After the agreement, the head of the Polish MON stressed that cooperation opens the way for exports of Polish arms to Canada. As he pointed out, it is primarily about the unmanned FlyEye and Warmate systems and Gladius systems produced by the WB Group. According to Kosiniak-Kamysz, these solutions are an example of the improvement of Polish military technology and national defence industry, which are to support Canadian armed forces in the future.

The Minister of Defence besides informed that the improvement of cooperation between Warsaw and Ottawa would include joint military exercises.

Poland takes work for the full NATO, so it will send our soldiers to Polish-Canadian, wider NATO-wish maneuvers in the Arctic. Our Armoured Forces will be participating in them in a fewer months. – he said.

Continuation of Polish-Canadian cooperation

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz besides recalled that he would visit the CANSEC defence fair in Canada, where Poland is acting as the leading state this year. During the September MSPO fair in Kielce, Canada will receive this status, and an authoritative delegation of the Canadian government will arrive in Poland. On the occasion of the Kielce Fair, further papers on military cooperation are planned. Among them are the agreement on cooperation between the defence troops of both countries and the defence warrant agreement.

Previously ministers participated in the Polish-Canadian forum organized in the Embassy of Poland in Ottawa, devoted to the cooperation of defence industries of both countries. During the meeting, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz pointed out that the safety situation in the planet is changing rapidly. Among the main threats he cited instability in the mediate East and Russia's aggressive policy.
