Polish volleyball players registered in the 4th final of the European championship. White and Red defeated Portugal in Istanbul 3:0 (25:18, 25:17, 25:23), although the end of the gathering provided quite a few excitement. In the fight for the Polish semi-finals they will face the Netherlands on Thursday.
The start of the match was the way the favorites thought. The regiments rapidly jumped to respective points and controlled the course of the first set. The Portuguese tried to respond to a brave game in the attack, but the white-red at a decisive minute accelerated and won 25:18.
The second organization caused much more problems. Portugal had already led 7:3 and 11:7, but the Polish squad gradually regained control, winning 25:17. The fans, however, could not number on remainder from emotion – in the 3rd set Portuguese women led to the situation 20:16 and the situation got truly nervous.
In the end, Polkom managed to reverse the score in their favour and to win in a gathering with volleyball players from the Iberian Peninsula.
On Thursday in Istanbul, Poland will face the Netherlands, which in the 1/8 final won against Slovenia 3:2. White and red are already among the top 8 teams of the tournament – now it is time for a real test of their ambition.
