Faster than the DA's office
The Prosecutor's Office applied for the waiver of the Member's immunity and the substance was to be dealt with by the Rules of Procedure Committee on Wednesday. However, Szczucki overtook the move, making a motion on Tuesday to the talker of the Sejm of Simon Holownia to resign from immunity. Now the Member's message goes to the Rules of Procedure Committee, which will check his formal correctness. Szczucki's resignation from immunity was confirmed by talker Simon Holownia during a press conference before the Wednesday session of the Sejm.
The Warsaw territory Attorney's Office plans to charge Szczucki with the illegal usage of public funds for campaigning. The CBA investigation showed that between 2020 and 1923, acting as the head of the Government Legislative Centre, he could spend PLN 1.2 million illegally.
Szcucki talks about “political character”
According to Szcucki on Wednesday morning:
According to my earlier announcement, I made a message yesterday at the Registry of the Marshal of the Sejm about the waiver of immunity in relation to the request of the territory Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw.
A associate of the Law and Justice Service added that the case was purely political, and he himself committed no crime. Szcucki assured that if the proceedings were carried out honestly, he would surely be able to prove that his work was decently done.
Campaign alternatively of Duty
The prosecution's application concerns the employment of six people by Krzysztof Szczucki at the Government Legislative Centre, where he served as chief. These people received a wage from the RCL, but in fact they dealt with the election run of MP PiS before the parliamentary election in 2023. Thus, alternatively of carrying out legislative education tasks, WEK staff engaged in political activities, organising run events and distributing electoral material.
The prosecution noted that after the election run was over, all WEK employees rapidly left RCL. The prosecutor's motion, which is 19 pages tall, was signed by Michał Mistygaj.
According to the documentation, the full wage for these persons amounted to PLN 744 thousand. Szczucki is to hear allegations of overexecution of powers, material harm to RCL and violations of the Electoral Code by illegally utilizing public funds for election activity.
