The latest IBRiS poll commissioned by “Rzeczpospolita” shows various opinions of Poles on the readiness of the Polish army to defend the country against possible external aggression. Most respondents are convinced that the military is decently prepared, but there are besides criticism voices. Let's see how these opinions shape.
According to the survey results, 54.6% of respondents believe that the Polish army is ready to defend the country. Of these, only 1.6% are absolutely convinced of its "decisively good" preparation. This consequence shows that many Poles have assurance in the defence capabilities of our military, although there is inactive any caution in expressing enthusiasm.
Critical voices in society on national defence
A somewhat different image is drawn among those who have doubts about the military's ability to defend themselves. As many as 29.6% of respondents believe that the army is not prepared, of which 7.9 percent are convinced that its readiness is "definitely inadequate". It is an crucial part of society that expresses concerns about national safety in the event of a possible threat.
The survey besides showed a link between opinions on military readiness and political preferences. Interestingly, the top assurance in the armed forces is expressed by supporters of today's opposition – Law and Justice (PiS) and the Confederation (57%). Among the sympathizers of the government coalition, this assessment is somewhat lower and is 54 percent. all another undecided voter (50%) besides believes in the readiness of the army, although as much as 40% of this group expresses criticism of defensive preparations.

Women trust the military more
An interesting aspect of the survey results is the clear difference in the perception of the army by women and men. As many as 66% of women measure the military's preparation positively, while among men this percent is 45%. This may indicate greater assurance for women in state institutions or with different criteria for assessing the readiness to defend the country.
If we look at the assessments in the context of age groups, 30-year-olds have the top assurance in the army – as many as 67% of them justice it positively. In the 18-29 age group, however, the situation is different. As many as 63% of young people believe that the military is not prepared to defend against aggression, which may indicate little assurance in the armed forces or greater criticism of their condition.
Does the place of residence matter?
Smaller cities seem to be most convinced of military readiness. As many as 73 percent of them justice the army positively, which may indicate a greater sense of safety or assurance in the defence forces in these communities. In large cities and more educated people, opinions vary.
The poll results besides propose that sources of information can influence the perception of Army readiness. People who learn about the planet from TVN's "Facts" (65%) measure military preparation positively. tv viewers, in turn, express the most critical opinions – as many as 60% of them measure the condition of the military negatively. This indicates the crucial function of the media in shaping the public opinion on national defence.
