Poles cut spending on Easter. "Food prices are inactive rising"

The latest poll shows that nearly half of the respondents intend to reduce their Easter spending. Poles see that prices, especially food, are constantly rising – the experts emphasize.

Over 45% of Poles will reduce Christmas shopping

Last year's Easter spending plans to reduce 45.8% of Poles – according to the UCE investigation and Shopfully report. A year ago, nearly 53% of people assumed a simplification in Christmas costs compared to 2022.

Currently, 34.9 percent of respondents are in the other position. 9.8% of consumers do not yet know how to order their budget, and 9.5% of respondents cannot find themselves.

What are we saving on? Alcohol, ornaments and food at the head of the list

Saving-oriented Poles mainly want to cut spending on:

  • alcohol – 38.8%,
  • It's all a small bit. – 38.4%,
  • Easter ornaments or gadgets – 34.1%,
  • food – 33.6 percent,
  • Christmas exits (including restaurants, cafes, cinemas or theatres) – 17.4%.

“Poles see prices rising all the time”

"The fact that nearly half of the public plans to reduce their Christmas spending compared to last year shows that there is inactive uncertainty among consumers. Poles see that prices, especially food, are constantly rising," said the retail marketplace expert and co-author of the survey with Shopfully Robert Run.

He stressed that this was besides confirmed by marketplace data, e.g. published by the Central Statistical Office or the ACE investigation and the University of WSB Merito. - And that fundamentally makes the countrymen take precautions. I was hoping that this year specified people would be somewhat less, i.e. within 35 percent. However, it is somewhat different – the expert said.

In his opinion Poles save not only from the habit acquired during the pandemic and advanced inflation, but besides mostly due to the current financial situation.

Test methodology

The survey was conducted on days April 2-3, 2025 method CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) as part of the study entitled “ Christmas expenses of Poles. Easter 2025’ at the test 1008 consumers aged 18-80.
