On 2 July, the president of the Republic of Poland signed the Act on the establishment of the National Day of Memory on Poles – victims of genocide by the CNS and UPA. This festival is to commemorate tens of thousands of victims of the savage murders committed in Volyn and east Małopolska. In the shadow of this decision, the fact remains that 2 days earlier in Ukraine the anniversary of the birth of Roman Szuchewych, the commander of UPA and 1 of the main organisers of massacres of Poles were celebrated.
