A survey by United Surveys by IBRiS for Virtual Poland shows a hard image of social reactions in case of war. The most respondents indicate readiness to fight, but about a tenth would reject reaching for weapons and a 5th would choose to leave the country. It's not a trivia. This is simply a test of the maturity of the state and citizens.
A survey of war and Polish defence reflex
As shown by United Surveys by IBRiS investigation for Virtual Poland, in the war scenario, the largest group of respondents indicated participation in the armed struggle. This fact must be recorded fairly. In Polish society there is inactive a feeling of defending one's own home, state and community.
The second proposal is little comfortable. About a tenth of respondents would not scope for weapons, and about 1 in 5 declares to leave Poland. These numbers must not be covered with a pathetic slogan. A country that lies on the east flank of NATO must be able to look at specified data without illusions.
Patriotism can't just be a celebration
Polish historical memory teaches that the nation pays for its own negligence in an hr of trial. It's not adequate to have an academy, a profile flag, and a solemn speech. erstwhile a real threat comes, reserves, training, intellectual immunity, logistics and readiness to service are important. The poll should be a cold shower for the political class. Over the years Poles have been told that safety can be commissioned to allies, procedures and conferences. Alliances are needed. NATO is important. But no alliance will replace the will of self-defense and states that can organize citizens before panic occurs.
The State must be responsible
If any citizens in the first instinct think about escaping, the question is not how to condemn them. The question is: why the state did not build a strong adequate belief that it would stay in Poland makes sense that the defence is organized and the citizen knows where to go, who to aid and how to defend the family.
This is where the real safety policy begins. The school should teach the foundations of resilience, first aid and work for the community. Local governments should know their tasks. The administration is to have plans that do not request to be looked for in binders after the first alarm. The military and civilian defence must be present in public life not as a decoration, but as a average part of the state.

Freedom is at stake, not the image itself
This poll speaks more than convenient slogans about unity. It shows that there is readiness capital in society, but there is besides a serious gap. If the state does not close its work at the base, average Poles will pay during the crisis: families, local communities, entrepreneurs, older people and children.
National realism makes it clear: freedom does not defend itself. Poland needs citizens ready to serve, but it besides needs a country that takes them seriously. It doesn't moralize until it's besides late. Organizes, trains, and requires early.
